Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the track/facilities open to the general public all the time?
A: No. The track and facilities/car park are locked when not in use by the club. This is for a few reasons, however, mainly safety concerns and vandalism. If you are looking to practice on the track without the stress of racing, we recommend you attend one of our Timed Practice Days.
Q: Do you need to be a member to race or participate in events?
A: No. You do not need to be a member of the club to race of participate. However, non members do pay higher race fees, and miss out on other benefits such as participating in the Club Championship point score. You are required to be a member of a RCRA affiliated club to participate in RCRA sanctioned events such as a State Title or National event.
Q: I'm new/young or inexperienced and a bit nervous to come racing - what do I do?
A: Trust us when we say; we all started somewhere and we were all new/inexperienced once. No matter your experience, come along and get racing - there is only one way to improve your skills! We ensure that all inexperienced racers are grouped together in heats, so you don't have to worry about the faster drivers being in your race.
Q: What do I need to come racing?
A: Other than your RC car and necessary equipment (tools, batteries, radio, fuel etc), we only require that you have a transponder installed in your car so our computer can monitor your lap times. Racers are welcome to race without a transponder, however, they will not have any results or lap times logged. Most racers use the MyLaps transponders in their RC cars.
Q: Other than IRC, which other tracks race 1/8 Off-Road?
A: The closest tracks to us that also race 1/8 off-road are:
Canberra Model Off-Road Car Club
Batemans Bay Radio Control Club
Orange Radio Control Car Club
Maitland Off-Road Radio Controlled Car Club
