 Club Day Round 5, 20th July 202526/7/2025
What a day!!! That was the sentiments heard from our new committee at the end of the day. What was supposed to be a nicely rolled surface and a great introduction from our new committee turned out to be a fair bit more challenging... Saturday prior we had a dedicated team of guys resurfacing and prepping the track with everyone keen to provide a fantastic race surface for us all. We left the track on Saturday all pleased with ourselves and gave each other a pat on our backs for what looked like an on road surface with jumps... We turn up Sunday, water the track and get the 1st practice session underway. Unfortunately the track "blew apart" quickly. With all hands on deck re-patching and trying to get the track raceable again was a monumental task but everyone pitched in and for that the club is eternally grateful for. We had also invited our 1/10 cousins over as their state title in ACT had just got canned and we were exited to let them race on our track.. Again I can't apologise enough for what our track surface turned into. Forgot to mention Live Time decided on Kev's first day of using it to not let the software proceed without an update, carried out update and boom, all database is gone. However again with the help of Peter Seckold, Peter Couper, Mitchell Scott and Kenny Halbrow was also back helping with the timing and live time was running again and we were away. With everyone so busy on the track repairs and getting the timing system up and running Liverpool's favourite canteen lady Alison Snedden put on her apron and started helping out in the canteen. It's times like these that everyone pitching in, truly shows the great camaraderie our sport has and is blessed to have people like this in it. We have all learnt valuable lessons from this and can truly assure everyone that we will get the track etc back in shape for our next race meet. Anyway lets get into the important stuff, Racing.. 1/8 Nitro Qualifying. Up front it was the Josh, Kev & Mitch show. Josh through a TQ Run down in the first qualifier that was impossible to beat with the track degradation. It was then left to Kev & Mitch to try and match Josh's pace. Kev also managed a 13 lap run in round 2 but couldn't close in the 7 seconds Josh had put on him, closely followed my Mitch. The remaining A Finalist qualifiers who drove extremely well were Cary Davies 4th, Nicholas Tsiaousis 5th, Jacob Marsden 6th, Ari Bakla 7th, Conor Pham 8th . This would then leave 2 more drivers from the B Final to Bump into the A Main. . 1/8 EP Qualifying We had 11 drivers show up for this one, so getting that all important TQ was more important than ever with 11 drivers being in the triple A Main later. Round 1 saw Young Riley Lander West take TQ by 0.6 seconds from Stephen Snedden. Round 2 was taken by Stephen this time with Simon Haverfield and Riley following closely. Round 3 Saw Stephen Snedden take this round aswell closely followed again by Riley and Scott Hill would make an appearance taking up 3rd. After all 3 qualifiers it would be Stephen Snedden to take pole, Riley Lander West 2nd, Simon Haverfield 3rd, Scott Hill 4th, Corey Ellis 5th, Russell Meredith 6th, Gregory Rosander 7th Captain Risky 8th, Andrew Kerek 9th Mason Bakla 10th, Laughlan Mcmahon 11th. 1/10 EP Qualifying Round 1 saw Matthew Couper taking TQ, with Peter Seckold 2nd and Josh Pain in 3rd Round 2 saw Josh Pain Take TQ with Caden Hill 2nd & Jon Philpott 3rd Round 3 saw Peter Seckold TQ, Matthew Couper 2nd & Caden Hill 3rd. After all rounds it would be Matthew Couper taking out Overall TQ, with Peter Seckold 2nd and Josh Pain 3rd. Nitro B Finals It would be the top 2 from this final to get that prestigous bump into the 30 minute A Final. After the 20 minute race on the track that was now showing a lot of "Character" it would be Lindsay Frost 1st and Austin McMahon to get the bump up spots. Unlucky for Darren Ibbotsen in 3rd as he drove a stella race in demanding conditions. 1/8 EP Triple A Mains These were 10 minute affairs that would showcase talent for the duration and patience on a track that was getting more "character as each lap passes. A1 would be taken out by Stephen Snedden by 1 second to the young Riley Lander West. With an age gap of 50 + Years between them, the racing was so close. Corey Ellis would end up taking out 3rd. A2 would be taken out by Riley with a 7 second gap this time to Stephen, This time however Simon Haverfield would take out third. A3 would be Riley again, this time commanding a huge lead with Stephen 2nd and Corey Eliis in 3rd Overalls would be Riley Lander West 1st Stephen Snedden 2nd Corey Ellis 3rd Simon Haverfield 4th Russell Meredith 5th Gregory Rosander 6th Captain Risky 7th Andrew Kerek 8th Laughlan Mcmahon 9th Mason Bakla 10th Scott Hill 11th 1/10 Triple A Mains These guys had a now seriously degraded track to work around and this was a true testament to speed and patience again. A1 would see Mathew Couper with the win followed by Peter Seckold 2nd and Jon Philpott 3rd A2 would see Peter Seckold take this one out with Josh Pain 2nd and Jon Philpott 3rd A3 would seePeter Seckold take this one out giving hime the overall, with Josh Pain in 2nd and this time Caden Hill got 3rd. Overalls would be :- Peter Seckold 1st Josh Pain 2nd Jon Philpott 3rd Caden Hill 4th Todd Mangion 5th Matthew Degiorgio 6th Mathew Couper 7th Andrew Kerek 8th Howard Crooks 9th 1/8 Nitro A Finals This was the last race of the day that would be a 30 minute affair. Josh Pain relented his TQ as he had family commitments,, thus giving Kev Lewis the front of the grid. The race started off with the usual carnage at turn 2 with Kev Lewis tumbling down the order, giving Mitch the lead, Lap 2 Mitch would find himself upside down now giving Kev back the lead, with all this happening up front it was Ari Bakla hunting down the leaders and by lap 4 he would find himself in front and started charging. Kev & Mitch then started to find there rhythm and the battle/chase was on to chase down Ari Kev suffered a blown glow plug at the 22nd lap mark, which then gave 2nd spot to Mitch and 3rd spot to Cary davies.
